The first arrival for Exercise Formidable Shield is a US Navy destoyer spotted sailing up the Clyde.
The USS Porter, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, sailed down the Largs channel earlier today as it arrived in the area ahea of the multi-nation exercise starting on May 8.
Exercise Formidable Shield will see vessels, aircraft and soldiers from multiple nations train in the North Atlantic.
The exercise runs from May 8 to 13, and will give nations and units practice of working together with live fire exercises against ballistic and air targets.
