A Largs businesswoman admits she has “fulfilled her dream” after opening her own salon in the town - with a dramatic transformation.

Zoe Hodge, 25, renovated a disused building in School Street to open Glow earlier this year, which specialises in skincare.

The Largs woman, who lives in Douglas Street, used the pandemic as a chance to change career and move her closer to realising her dream of opening up in her hometown.

Zoe said: “I used to work in fashion down in London but had always wanted to do beauty and skincare as a full-time career.

“Over lockdown I studied beauty therapy at college and decided if the opportunity came I would open my own shop.

“I always wanted to have a business in Largs, it’s been a dream of mine for quite a few years and it’s nice to see it all come together.

“I moved back home just before lockdown and when the premises in School Street came up late last year I knew I had to go for it.”

Zoe reveals the renovation of the shop took more than six months, with the premises previously lying empty for several years.

She explained: “I think it used to be a barbers a few years ago, and it was shut and just getting used for storage.

“My dad found out about it and we took it over. It started with a board of all my ideas and slowly came to life.

“We started the renovation last October and just opened at the start of April, so it was a long process but definitely worth it.

“It was nice to make it my own place, and quite fitting as the whole of School Street has been renovated with the new housing development.”

Zoe reveals the Largs community has got behind her new venture, and has revealed ambitious plans for the future.

She added: “I’ve been open for over a month now and we have been quite busy, although the road being closed for some time has had a bit of an effect on pedestrians.

“Largs hasn’t got many places which focus on skincare treatments, so hopefully I can fill that gap in the market.

“In the future I’d love to move into bigger premises and focus solely on skincare as that is where my true passion lies.

“You can find Glow in School Street for skincare, lash and brow treatments.
