Three people were arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a weekend crackdown by police across Ayrshire.

The current limit in Scotland is 22 microgrammes of alcohol (mcg) in 100ml of breath, and drivers will be arrested if they are over this limit.

Over the weekend, officers detected three drink drivers on Ayrshire’s roads, leading to three arrests.

Details provided by Police Scotland were as follows:

At 4.30pm on Saturday May 6, a 54-year-old man provided a breath test reading of 130 mcg and was arrested.

At 9.05pm on the same night, a 45-year-old man provided a breath test reading of 102 mcg, was arrested and will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.

At 12.10am on Sunday May 7, a 17-year-old male provided a breath test reading of 35 mcg, was arrested and will be reported to the procurator fiscal for various road traffic offences.

Police did not reveal details of the locations where the three driver were arrested.

A conviction for drink driving could cause you to lose your licence for at least 12 months.
