A popular Ayrshire takeaway has created a special meal for one week only to help a young boy reach America for potentially life-saving treatment.

SCRAN, which operates from Portland Park in Troon, has launched the ‘Calum Box Meal’, with 30 per cent of all sales going to Calum Rae’s JustGiving page.

Calum’s family has launched a fund-raiser to raise £250,000 to get him to surgery in New York after being diagnosed with stage M high-risk neuroblastoma earlier this year.

Calum's mum Victoria McDonald is originally from Dalry and works as a teacher at West Kilbride Primary School.

The Troon takeaway is now doing its own bit to help the family reach the total needed to potentially save Calum’s life.

A spokesperson said: “We at Team SCRAN have decided that we will be donating 30 per cent of all sales of this week’s special to do what we can to get this little guy the treatment he truly deserves.

“Let’s get right behind this folks this week & see how far we can take this for Calum.”
