A planning application to make sweeping changes to bus and queuing facilities at the Cumbrae ferry slip have been withdrawn.

The works, planned by North Ayrshire Council, had been submitted for approval on the authority's online portal.

However, they were withdrawn earlier this month, with more engagement with stakeholders now set to take place.

Plans for the Cumbrae side include two new queuing lanes, a formalised second bus stop, and a new pedestrian, cyclist and public transport interchange facility.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “The planning application was withdrawn due to allow further engagement with stakeholders.

“A revised planning application will be submitted in due course.”
