The long standing tradition of the Cumbrae Queen returned last weekend with Millport youngster Allanah Violet Gardiner bestowed with the honour.
The crowning ceremony took place at The Garrison in Millport in front of a big crowd of well wishers.
The Cumbrae Primary pupil, who has Downs syndrome, was treated to an afternoon tea and was centre of attention on Saturday afternoon.
It was part of a special day of celebrations on the island with the Cumbrae Classic Car show also taking place.
Allanah’s mum Julie revealed the youngster was over the moon when she found out she was chosen as this year’s queen.
She said: “Allanah was born and raised on the island, and is a much-loved member of the Cumbrae Primary School community.
“You could scrape her off the ceiling. She was so excited for the big day and seeing everyone for the first time as the Cumbrae Queen."
She was crowned at the sunken gardens in front of The Garrison, attended by her maids and page boys.”
As part of the traditional ceremony, which has been running on the island for decades, Allanah gave a speech, and was given a tour of the Classic Car show.
The compere for the Cumbrae Queen ceremony was well known islander, bus driver, and professional speaker Robert Wilson.
Thank you to Alan Cawley Photography for the pictures from the ceremony.
