A GROUP of Largs swimmers who turned into calendar girls for a daring charity fundraiser have thanked the public for their support.

The Largs Delicious Dookers formed in 2021 to boost wellbeing and form friendships through regular dips in the bay at the foot of May Street.

They starred in a Calendar Girls-style photo shoot to raise funds for charity SAY Women, which offers safe semi-supported accommodation and emotional support for those aged 16 to 25 who are survivors of abuse, rape or sexual assault.

Photographer Francesca Pearce was behind the lens as the ladies posed up to raise cash for the cause.

The idea came from the Calendar Girls film as a number of freestyle photos were set up along the seafront - and the calendars soon flew off the shelves.

The calendar, which was produced by Largs Printing Company, was on sale at Costa Coffee, David Gavin Ironmonger, Boutique Hair Spa, Room, The Anchor, Indigo Eats, the Post Office, Coast Hair Salon, The Moorings and Fishworks.

The snaps featured members Sarah Lamont, Angela Noble Kaye Wilson, Alison Templeman, Angela McLarty, Dianne Ferguson, Eryn Stevens, Fiona Currie, Gail Heaney, Janice Hawthorn, Karen Gibb, Lynne McDonald, Ruthy Angiolina Foster, Sandra Allan, Tamsen Collins, and Tracey Rall Anderson.

And a delighted Tamsen Collins, who set up the cold water swimming group, said: "The final amount from our charity calendar was £1300+ gift aid so £1625 all in for SAY women.

"This was all made possible by the support of local businesses, Largs community and our fabulous Delicious Dookers."
