A Cumbrae-based councillor has issued a warning to motorists driving on the island to watch out for geese.

Councillor Todd Ferguson has issued a plea to drivers to take care when travelling on the island’s roads after a bird was killed earlier this month in a collision with a vehicle as it travelled on the outer road around the island.

He said: “Please be aware around Ballochmartin Bay as there are large families of geese out and about and sadly, one was killed.

“The verges being cut should help with visibility as well but please be aware when driving that they are on the move between the fields and the water.”
