THE organisers of the annual 'duck race' in aid of the Largs lifeboat have revealed the total which was raised at the popular event.
Crowds lined the bridges and banks along the Gogo Burn to watch the release of an army of rubber ducks on Saturday, July 15.
The event is a popular feature of the Largs summer calendar and is a key contributor to the work of the town's RNLI volunteers.
The local RNLI fund-raising branch previously described the 2023 event as a "splash hit", with 10-year-old Ollie Barker buying the ticket for the winning duck.
And the branch has now revealed that more than £1,600 was raised at the event to support the local lifeboat.
A spokesperson said: "We are delighted to share that we sold 1620 tickets for the duck race this year and after adding additional donations and deducting expenses we managed to raise a fantastic total of £1,611.56!
"Thank you so much to everyone who bought tickets for this event, all of those who came along and cheered on the little yellow ducks as they raced down the burn, and the excellent support as always given by the Largs First Responders and Largs Resilience Team.
"A big thanks also to W & J Knox Netmakers, who donated the large net we attached to the bridge to catch the racing ducks, and to the Co-op who donated water and biscuits for our volunteers."
