AN AYRSHIRE jeweller will be holding a week-long residence at Kelburn Castle this month - and members of the public will be able to come along and try their hand at making their own jewellery.

Wylde Thistle Events has been hosting a weekly artist residency pop up shop in the Courtyard Shop at Kelburn Castle.

Ayrshire jeweller Ruth Patterson, who trades as Crazy for Ruthie Jewellery will be in residence from August 14-20, displaying and selling her handmade silver and gemstone jewellery as well as offering welded, permanent bracelets and anklets on a pop-up basis with no appointment necessary.

For those looking to try their hand at making their own jewellery, Ruth is also running a selection of jewellery making workshops over the course of the week, including making a stamped bangle, making forged earrings and making a chain bracelet.

All materials are included in course costs (a surcharge applies for those wishing to work in sterling silver) and tools required for each project are available for use during the class.

Ruth will show how to make a stamped bangle from 10.30-11.30am on August 15, and how to create a chain bracelet from 10.30am-1.30pm on August 17.

Workshop prices start at £10 per person and attendee numbers are limited to 10 per class.

No previous jewellery making experience is necessary and more details, as well as tickets are available at www.crazyforruthie.com/courses
