Supporters turned out in force recently, as the Douglas Park Project raised more than £1,500.
The organisation held its inaugural bucket collection at Morrisons on Sunday, July 29, followed by a quiz night on Saturday, August 5.
More than 100 people took part in the quiz night, which proved to be a fun night out for all involved. The event took place at Halkshill Bowling Club.
A spokesperson said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us in these two events.
"Across the two events the amazing sum of £1,560.70 was raised.
"We are well on the way to our target - please spread the word and help us get to £3,000.
"Thank you everyone."
Thanks went to everyone who took part, the staff at Morrisons who facilitated the collection, the staff at Halkshill, and thanks to all who provide raffle and cash donations.
Thanks also went to quizmaster and auctioneer, Ronnie, and all the volunteers who contributed to making it such an enjoyable evening.
Douglas Park is fundraising to bring a portaloo to the park.
