It is auditions time at Attic Players for 'The Importance of Being Earnest' on August 21 and 22.

Described as "a trivial comedy for serious people", the classic play is by Oscar Wilde.

Working within the social conventions of late Victorian London, the play's major themes are the triviality with which it treats institutions as serious as marriage, and the resulting satire of Victorian ways.

It is a play about mistaken identity, lies, the class system, and the never-ending vanity and and lovers entanglements.

The play still delights readers more than a century after its 1895 publication.

Auditions are taking place at 7pm at Skelmorlie Tennis Club.

There are a total of nine characters in the play - five men and four women - and anyone auditioning should be a member of the Attic Players.

If you want to audition and are not yet a member you can join on either of the audition nights.

If you can't attend on either of these dates but still want to audition, please let them know: www.atticplayers.com/contact.html.
