A Largs fashion retailer has announced it is closing down due to escalating costs and energy bills.

Vanity Fayre has been based in Largs Main Street for many years, and is positioned close to Home Hardware, just down from where the new Marks and Spencer Foodhall is due to open next year.

However, the cost-of-living crisis and crippling energy bills have been given as the reason behind the decision.

In a statement on its website, it said: "It is with great sadness that I have to announce that we have made the difficult decision to close Vanity Fayre down.

"It has been our honour to serve you over the past six years and have made some really good friends along the way.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

"Since the pandemic, Brexit, cost-of-living and higher energy costs, it’s not feasible to stay open any longer.

"We would request that all remaining vouchers and credit notes be used as soon as possible for redemption.

"From this morning the remaining stock will be priced at £40 or less.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

"Thanks again for all of your support over the years. Phyllis, Paige and myself will miss you all."

Customers have expressed their sadness about the news.

Vanity Fayre Fashions is described as a small ladies boutique which specialises in high quality fashions from Europe, such as Alembika, Aino, Junge, Mama B, Latte, Naya, Frank Walder, Just White, Rabe, Le Comte and many many more, with selection of accessories in all shapes, sizes and colours to suit any occasion.
