RECYCLING and repurposing are at the heart of an expanding Largs business which opens the doors of its new home to the public this weekend.

Thru Decades Upcycled has moved into the vacant premises at the corner of Nelson Street and Brisbane Road previously occupied by Jenny's Wardrobe, which recently moved into the former Glen's shop in Largs town centre.

It will also be hosting regular craft workshops within the premises.

Thru Decades Upcycled - which opens in its new home on Saturday, September 30 - previously had a smaller premises at the corner of Brisbane Road and Haco Street, and is now expanding.

Owner Sandra McGuire is delighted with the move, and can't wait to get started.

Sandra said: "I'm having the official opening of the new shop on Saturday 10am-4pm.

"There will be Prosecco, nibbles, 10 per cent off Frenchic items and a raffle ticket to all who come in with prizes.

"I've always been recycling and 'repurposing'. At 20, I made curtain tracks out of old copper piping.

"After 40 years in the NHS I was able to fulfill a hankering to open my first shop in Brisbane Road. I couldn't have done it without Frenchic Paint, making me the official stockist covering a 10-mile radius around Largs.

"This has helped my passion: to show others what they can do with something headed for the landfill.

"I have taken on larger premises so that I can offer short one hour fun classes right through to one day workshops.

"My first lampshade making worshop on Sunday is already full. I would like to thank the people of Largs and surrounding areas for their support in so many ways."

And one of the grand prizes on offer for customers who take part in the raffle is a Frenchic Starter Kit.

"Frenchic Paint is an environmentally friendly paint made from chalk and minerals," Sandra said.

"It started life as a paint for furniture but now the have added 150 wall paints, certified 'scrubbable'.

"It can very used on children's furniture and toys as it carries the much sought after certificate for that too.

"It is a one woman wonder and now the best selling paint of its kind.

"There will be a raffle of a Frenchic Starter Kit drawn at 4pm tomorrow.

"It contains absolutely everything a person would need to paint a small piece of furniture such as a nest of tables or bedside cabinet."
