Emergency crews rushed to a house fire in Largs last night and one person was taken to hospital following the incident. 

The blaze took told in a ground-floor blaze in Gateside Street, near the town centre, at around 8.25pm.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were three appliances in attendance.

Police blocked public access to the road at the New Street junction, and at the lower end of Gateside Street, while fire crews attended to the emergency.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.25pm on Monday, 9 October, to reports of a fire affecting the ground floor of a dwelling in Gateside Street, Largs. 

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene. 

“One casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. 

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
