North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership has issued an update for community alarm and telecare service users after being alerted to a scam attempt.

Bank details were asked for during a phone call and this is something which the partnership would never ask for over the phone as all correspondence is by letter.

A spokesperson said: "We’ve been alerted to a scam attempt targeting a user of our Community Alarm/Telecare service, where additional services were offered at a cost and bank details were requested over the phone.

"We will never ask for bank details during a phone call and all correspondence will be by letter.

"Should you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and asking for bank details, please hang up the phone and let us know on 01294 310222.

"Alternatively you can press your alarm button and report it to the monitoring centre instead."

If you have friends or family members who uses these services, please share this important message with them.
