A CARE service for the elderly in Largs and Fairlie scored top marks for its strong staff network.

Pro Care Support Service, which is run by Pro Care Ayrshire Limited, has been described as "proactive and professional" by inspectors from the Care Inspectorate during its unannounced visits in October this year.

The facility provides a care-at-home service to older people living in their own homes and received an excellent score for its support of their clients' wellbeing and their staff team.

The report stated that staff understood the needs of each person and continued to strive to promote independence.

It continued: "People had benefitted from reliable, personalised and consistent support, delivered by a skilled and motivated team of staff.

"The positive relationships that had developed enabled people to feel listened to and valued. People told us they trusted staff and were complimentary about the support provided."

It also found that the staff were sensitive to the needs and wishes of the elderly and inspectors highlighted the range of opportunities for further training and learning for the team that the service provides.

However, it was noted in the report that the manager of the facility recognised that they needed to implement monthly team meetings again.

It stated: "Monthly team meetings had not been happening. The manager recognised this as an area that should be improved upon and planned to implement them asap.

"This would ensure the team had opportunities to get together as a wider team and share learning."

And when it comes to pensioners using the service, their families were regularly updated with rotas, support and care plans.

The report added: "Care plans had been formally reviewed with families and relevant professionals.

"It was positive to hear from families that they were regularly consulted and kept up-to-date.

"We spoke to nine family members who had all been involved and liaised regularly with the service.

"The views of carers and family members were heard and meaningfully considered.

"There was a supportive and inclusive approach to involve all carers and family members in the planning and delivery of care and support when this was important to the resident."

Sylvia Gillies, owner of Procare Ayrshire Ltd said: "We are absolutely delighted with the results of the recent inspection that was carried out at Procare Ayrshire Ltd.  It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team of carers and office staff who provide such an exceptional standard of bespoke care to each of our clients.

"Procare Ayrshire Ltd provides an essential service to the elderly community of Largs and Fairlie, looking after them in their own homes and enabling them to maintain their independence for as long as possible while experiencing high-quality care, from socialising visits to helping those with more complex care needs."
