A PLANNING application to turn former offices in West Kilbride into flats has been submitted.

Proposals have been submitted by Constructive Architectural Designs Ltd on behalf of Mr Jamie Dillion to North Ayrshire Council to turn derelict space above the Royal Bank of Scotland on Manse Road into two affordable flats.

In the design statement, which can be viewed publicly on the local authority's website, it stated that the space has remained unoccupied since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The offices were bought in October this year.

It stated: "The existing office building has lain empty since 2019, and since Covid forced changes to the way employers and employees now work with a large percentage now able to work from home, there is no indication that this property will have a future as an office suite.

"Within the West Kilbride town centre area there is currently a lack of affordable housing and flats for people who wish to stay and work in the local area.

"It is our clients intention to reinstate the property as residential, to provide two high quality and affordable two bedroom flats."

If given the green light, the space would retain its original features from the high ceilings, decorative covings, and timber window panelling.
