BUSINESSES in Millport are preparing to kick off the festive season with a real Christmas cracker in the form of their annual Yuletide weekend.
The Isle of Cumbrae Tourist Association has once more pulled out all the stops for a busy weekend of tree-mendous fun.
On Friday December 1, Santa is coming to switch on the lights at Garrison House at 6pm.
The Garrison House Cafe will be open with a free mince pie when you buy a hot drink. Local shops are encouraged to stay open late to welcome all after the lights are switched on.
On Saturday, December 2, Hopscotch will be performing 'Cinderella' in the DA Hall at 12pm - the event is free of charge and snacks provided.
And on Sunday, December 3, Santa's Grotto is open at Mapes of Millport from 12 noon until 5pm, with treats for the kids and mulled wine for adults.
A spokeswoman for the Isle of Cumbrae Distillers, one of the weekend's most enthusiastic supporters, said: "It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.
"One of our best community events is around the corner and everyone is welcome. The light up at Garrison House takes place Friday night and is always fantastic.
"Shops will also be open late on the Friday.
"There will be great activities for the children during the weekend, including a performance of Cinderella on Saturday and Santa's grotto on Sunday.
"It's the perfect time to plan a weekend to Millport!"
