A Largs couple became the unwitting stars of a viral video showing them ‘rolling’ on their matching chopper-style scooters this week in 2014.

The video was posted to the popular website The Lad Bible and had been seen by almost four million people in just over two days.

It featured the couple crossing Greenock Road at the RNLI station, backed by a track from American rapper Chamillionaire.

The Lad Bible is one of the world’s most popular sites for men in their 20s and early thirties and has more than 6.6m likes.

A Labour councillor hit out at the ‘Victorian’ state of some rented houses in Largs.

The criticism, from Councillor Alex Gallagher, came amid moves to launch a pilot programme to improve housing conditions.

Councillors from across the political divide agreed to use a particular street for the project.

Although it was not named by councillors at the time, it was believed that the street to be targeted for the upgrade programme was Nelson Street — at its top end.

Largs great grandfather Murray Haddow was recognised in 2014 for his work on board the arduous Arctic convoy ships which journeyed from Britain to the outer reaches of Russia during World War Two.

Murray, who was then in his 90th year, attended an awards ceremony at Glasgow City Chambers, together with 35 other Royal Navy veterans, to be presented with the Ushakov Medal by the Consul General of the Russian Federation, Andrey Pritepov.

The award was in recognition of service on the convoys which carried vital aircraft, tanks and military supplies to the northernmost Russian Arctic ports between 1941 and 1945.

An accompanying certificate stated that it was “awarded for personal courage and valour shown during World War II while participating in Arctic convoys”.

It was described as “one of the most highly esteemed military awards in Russia”.

Murray served on six Russian convoys in 1944 on board the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Caprice, after Russia had joined the allies.

Cumbrae Primary had the ideal recipe for a fantastic event.

The school was tantalising the tastebuds by hosting the Great Cumbrae Food Festival following a grant from Education Scotland.

Exciting plans for a new digital media centre in West Kilbride took another step closer.

Jurie Duvenage, secretary of the Kirktonhall Creative Media group, thanked everyone in the community for their support as they submitted their final funding application for the state of the art development in the town centre.

Mr Duvenage said: “We have submitted our final funding application to the Heritage Lottery as of this week.

“We would like to thank everyone for supporting Kirktonhall Creative Media Group throughout 2014 as well as North Ayrshire Council."

The new creative media base was set to be built within the former Kirktonhall council offices, which would, in effect, restore the 17th century building which was in a dilapidated state.

SANTA showed he had a sweet tooth when he made a guest appearance at Clark Memorial Church's Christmas fayre.

He visited the pancake stall where he was joined by willing helpers — and there was no shortage of customers eager to snap up the some of the tasty goodies

Kelburn Primary boasted a state of the art nursery, so there was no better place for some of their younger members to test their own design skills.
