An enterprising Largs business duo have won another top award for their tourism initiative on Cumbrae.

Cousins Adam and Daniel Jack opened the holiday accommodation Jack’s Alt-Stays in Millport last year, and quickly earned top reviews and accolades - with a Scottish EDGE award their latest prize.

Jack's Alt Stays has five eco-conscious, luxurious cabins, each giving a different experience in nature - The Hive, The Woods, The Reef, The Birdbox and The Jungle.

They proudly describe it as "the next generation of self-catering accommodation in Scotland" and "a crossroads where quirky interior design meets eco-consciousness, in a stunning island setting".

Each unique cabin has a different scent, decor and ornaments relating to the theme.

Scottish EDGE is Scotland's biggest business funding competition, offering grants and loans from £10,000 to £100,000 to help grow startups, social enterprise or charity.

The cousins are thrilled to get this latest recognition and have explained what it means - and have given a hint that they are far from finished with future plans potentially in the offering after their flurry of success.

They said: "We’re absolutely buzzing to share the news that we are one of the EDGE main category winners!

"Scottish EDGE is Scotland’s biggest business funding competition - kind of like Dragon’s Den - and the crème de la crème of start-up accolades in Scotland.

"Back in 2019/20, when we were finishing up uni and starting to work on the Jack’s Alt-Stays concept, we would dream that one day we could take home a Scottish EDGE trophy, and here we are!

"Huge thanks to our cracking team in Millport who work so hard to create top class accommodation experiences.

"What’s next for Jack’s Alt-Stays? Only time will tell."

Scottish EDGE is a funding competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s innovative, high growth potential entrepreneurial talent.

Funded by the Hunter Foundation, the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and private donors, the competition is delivered twice per year and has supported 569 early-stage Scottish businesses with over £23m in award funding.

Adam and Daniel are also in the running for a national VisitScotland Thistle award, having previously won the regional accolade for the West of Scotland.

The Thistle Awards take place in Glasgow on December 1.
