A celebration of The Carpenters is coming to Barrfields Theatre later this month - and it is a Scottish first.

The Carpenters were a hugely popular American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter.

They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition skills, with a slew of hits including 'Close to You' and 'We've Only Just Begun'.

On Saturday, December 16,  Kate Matthews will take to the stage as Karen Carpenter with a fantastic live band as this glorious period of music is remembered.

Karen said: "We are super excited to be bringing our show up to Bonnie Scotland at Barrfields Theatre in Largs, and if you are a Carpenters fan, I will be singing all your favourite songs.

"I am personally really excited about this show as I have never been to Scotland before, and look forward to seeing you there."

The Carpenters Masquerade show features various points of Karen’s life, from the origins of the Dick Carpenter trio through to Karen’s premature passing.

Witness the highs and lows of this incredible music, performed by an ensemble of some of the top professional musicians and vocalists, hand-picked to truly do justice to this amazing catalogue of songs as they pay tribute to the legacy that is the Carpenters.

The show begins at 7.30pm.
