WEEKS of flooding problems at the entrance to Largs Yacht Haven STILL haven't been resolved, it's been revealed.

Much of the marina's car park has been left under water since heavy rain at the start of November, while the pedestrian underpass beneath the Largs-Glasgow railway line has also been submerged.

Trunk road maintenance company Amey has brought tankers and water pumps to the site to try and solve the problem - but photos and video footage taken at the site over the weekend show there is still no resolution.

The car park was seen to be submerged, while there was heavy surface water on the marina side of the bridge leading to the A78.

Councillor Ian Murdoch told the News that the flooding was 'even worse' over the weekend.

"When I reported it on Saturday night, they sent a 40-foot tanker," he said.

"They worked on it on Saturday night, and they worked on the source again on Sunday.

"It is still not resolved and the water flow is stronger than ever.

"I reported the marina and car park flooding again early on Sunday evening. Amey now have a van and two tractors with a huge water pump on site.

"The source of the problem needs repaired in a way that this should not happen again.

"All of the additional work involved, such as 40-foot tankers and water pumps, are like placing a plaster on an open wound."

Cllr Murdoch added that he would be speaking again to Transport Scotland and Amey on Monday morning seeking an urgent update to the ongoing situation which has lasted since the start of November.

Traffic lights on the A78 at the marina entrance also became stuck on red at 3pm on Sunday - not for the first time.

The long running issue stems from the partial collapse of a stone culvert.

This collapse was repaired on November 22, but the area is still flooding as a result of a blockage in the culvert - with efforts so far, including jetting equipment and drainage rods with cutters and hooks, not managing to resolve the problem.

As a result, the A78 near the marina access road was flooded again on Thursday evening, leading to temporary traffic lights being put back in place on Friday and over the weekend.
