It was Christmas party time in 1981 as local schools and playgroups were in full festivities - with Brisbane Primary 7 pupils enjoying a 'cracker' of an afternoon.

Party games and dancing to the latest musical hits to musical chairs was all part of the fun, but only after some Scottish country dancing of course!

The official Christmas number one hit single was 'Don't You Want Me' by The Human League, while Christmas Day TV viewing included Top of the Pops, Larry Grayson's Generation Game, The Two Ronnies with guest stars Sheena Easton and Chas 'n' Dave, and another dramatic episode of 'Dallas'.

Terry Wogan hosted a special Christmas edition of the comedy quiz game Blankety Blank in with Larry Grayson, Lenny Henry, Beryl Reid, and Jimmy Tarbuck, while The Mike Yarwood Christmas Show featured Marti Caine and Bucks Fizz.

And the Fairlie Playgroup Christmas party was also in full swing as youngsters enjoyed party games around the Christmas tree - with some balloon games adding to the fun.

The multi award winning Nardini's Cafe were opening their new ice cream factory and showing off the new state of the art technology in time for the busy festive period.

And first year pupils at Largs Academy broke away from their Christmas party for a picture with head teacher Mr Inglis, and deputy Mr Bruce, in the reception area outside the former assembly hall.
