An award-winning takeaway business in Largs has thanked customers for their generous donations of toys.

Customers were urged to bring new, unwrapped toys to The Fish Works in return for a free portion of chips for every toy donated.

The Fish Works also joined forces with Largs Primary, who hosted a stall at the town's Morrisons store to raise funds.

Tiffany Irvin, co-owner of The Fish Works, said: "We would just like to thank everyone for donating to our toy drive, we have collected so many, and we still have all the monies raised by the Christmas Caring Crew or Largs Academy.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

"These toys will be separated to fulfil referrals from several local establishments and any left over will be given to the church to hand out.

"From the monies raised we will buy specific gifts to accommodate referrals - what an achievement everyone!"

Thanking the school, Tiffany added: "We cannot begin to express how deeply touched and grateful we are for the phenomenal generosity of those who visited the Largs Primary P4 Christmas craft stall.

"A million thanks to the pupils, teachers, families and all who helped to make this such an incredible success.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

"The Caring Christmas Crew raised a massive £1028.19 to buy toys for the toy drive. What an achievement."

Customers were full of praise for the project.

Louise Crown said: "A great initiative and excellent success. There will be lots of happy children this Christmas. Well done everyone to everyone involved."
