Largs Community Cinema has announced its first showing for Barrfields.

Last summer's blockbuster movie Barbie, starring Margot Robbie in the title role, will be screened on Friday, January 26.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

The film sees Barbie and Ken having the time of their lives in the colourful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land.

However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

Largs Community Council (LCC) has been looking at bringing a community cinema to the town for some time and is holding a trial run at Barrfields, with all proceeds going to the North Ayrshire Foodbank.

Community Councillor Patricia Perman, who has been leading the project, hopes that the community get behind the new cinema project.

She said: "We selected Barbie as it is the film that everyone has been talking about, and is one of the most popular films of the past year.

"We hope that the community can support the project so that we can keep it going, and with it only costing £5 to go along, it represents good value.

"All the proceeds for using their facility go to the North Ayrshire Foodbank, so there is a community benefit as well.

"In order for it to be a success, we would require 80 people watching the film at £5 per head.

"We have a project fund which could help underwrite it in case we don't get that number, and Largs Academy is happy to get involved and help do some promotion.

"We are also going to train two or three ushers and we can provide them with torches and hi-vis vests.

"I think the important selling point too is that the proceeds are going to the North Ayrshire Foodbank."
