Excitement is building for the much anticipated spring production of 'Carousel' by Largs Amateur Operatic Society.
The cast has now been announced for the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic which will be performed at Barrfields Theatre from Wednesday, March 13 to Saturday, March 16.
Considered a stage classic, the poignant story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs. He attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child; after it goes wrong, he is given a chance to make things right.
The show's musical numbers are also much-loved, including If I Loved You, June Is Bustin' Out All Over, and perhaps the best known of all, You'll Never Walk Alone.
Rehearsals are well under way for the forthcoming production which will be Largs Operatic's 77th live show since the group was formed in 1946 - though they have a big task on their hands to outdo last year's performance of Calendar Girls, which was hailed as one of its best ever.
