A REPORT of concern over a helicopter in the hills above Largs was "a false alarm with good intent", say police.
Reports surfaced online of a helicopter struggling in the high winds during Storm Isha at lunchtime on Monday, with some people posting on social media to raise concern that a crash may have occurred on the hills behind the town.
However, Police Scotland said they had contacted the operator of the helicopter and confirmed there was no incident causing concern.
A spokesperson said: "We had received a report of a helicopter with smoke coming out of it. Officers have attended and all is in order.
"We have also spoken to the operator of the helicopter and all is safe and well.
"It was a false alarm with good intent."
