Memories of the famous Moorings restaurant and emporium are recalled this week as we head back into the archives to the early 1980s.
The Largs RNLI, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in the town this year, were pictured at a fundraiser in the ballroom area.
The Moorings leapt on the snooker craze in the early 1980s after starting its own club.
The venue's 'A' and 'B' snooker teams competed in regional competitions after world snooker star Tony Meo opened the local facility at a time when the sport was gripping the nation on TV, with up to 20 million viewers watching big events.

The picture below, meanwhile, came from Millport man Jim Morrison's scrapbook as he was one of the amateur golfers who played with Rangers star Sandy Jardine in a pro-am Scottish golf tournament.

Meanwhile, Largs Business Club were carrying out their annual presentation of awards. How many of the local businessmen do you recognise? Email us on editorial@largsnews.co.uk if you can put names to any of the faces!
The business club ran in the town from the 1950s onwards, and was a powerful voice for shops, hoteliers and pubs and cafe owners.

And Kelburn Travel were getting involved in some football sponsorship in the town, as the travel agency were hoping to give the local sporting scene a take-off with some important financial support but can you help identify the team involved?
