PUPILS from Largs Academy are hitting the slopes after they headed on an international trip to sunnier climes in Italy.
The group has sent over greetings from Sestriere where they have been having fun in the snow and putting their skiing skills to the test.
Sestriere sits at the heart of one of Europe's biggest ski areas, known as the Via Lattea or 'Milky Way'.
The resort, one of the venues for the the 2006 Winter Olympics, offers a vast 400km network of interconnected, intermediate pistes, from beginner level upwards.
The slopes to the east of the resort are amongst the steepest in the entire area – including former Olympic racetracks.
The local slopes are home to an excellent beginner zone at the edge of the village, from which there is good progression to more challenging zones.
