Clyde Coast and Cumbrae Men's Shed inaugural Burns Supper night with music and poetry has been hailed a great success.

The event was held on Burns Day itself, and it is hoped it will become an annual event on the calendar as the Men's Shed approaches its first birthday next month.

A note of thanks has been issued to Vice Chair, Joe Young for organising the evening, which was well received by members.

David Gardner, Chair of the Scottish Men's Shed Association attended and spoke at the event.

Ross Connick took on the task of piping in the haggis.

Largs and Millport Weekly News: The main aim of the Men's Shed is to help improve men’s mental health and wellbeing by providing a venue where men can choose to either work, relax, make and repair things, pursue hobbies and pastimes, get practical help with projects.

The group have received a shed-load of support from local businesses, with donations of tools and materials to ensure a flying start, while membership numbers have also been steadily growing.

More than £16,000 in grant funding was secured to kickstart the project, which is open two days a week in the Brisbane Centre in Largs, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, as work continues for the asset transfer of the building.

Membership - which is free - is open to people from West Kilbride, Fairlie, Skelmorlie, Cumbrae and Largs.
