A man has been arrested following a police raid at a ground floor flat in Gateside Street in Largs this morning.

The News understands that the incident is not connected to the ongoing investigation into Alan Lawson's death.

Eye-witnesses saw the police turn up at the sandstone block of flats near Largs town centre just after 9am.

A source told the News: "It was a very speedy and slick operation. I saw a police van turn up and two police, a policeman and a policewoman get out, and there was a red battering ram used.

"They forced their way inside to the flat, and came out very quickly and took a man into the van, and they were off. It was all done and dusted within minutes.

"There were more police who came out of the block so it must have been well organised operation.

"There were at least half a dozen police in attendance."

The block of flat is just seconds away from a busy shopping area in Aitken Street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with outstanding warrants at an address on Gateside Street, Largs, on the morning of Monday, February 19, 2024.

"He’s due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, February 20. ”
