Television retailer Brian McMillan was very much at the cutting edge of technology with state-of-the-art satellite TV coming to Largs.
Brian and his staff proudly showed off the new Solara satellite dish, with householders set to get smaller versions.

Golfing great Sam Torrance is pictured at the Open in St Andrews in 1984. The Largs man achieved 21 European Tour wins in his career.

The first Largs Fun Run was launched in 1984 at Barrfields Park. The event was initially organised by the Largs Round Table, and latterly by the Largs Rotary. The event raised funds for various charitable causes for more than 30 years.

The Oasis and Mirage disco was a popular draw on Largs seafront 40 years ago.
Top hits of the period included 'Relax' by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' by Wham.
The venue in Fort Street included a discotheque which was open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays to boogie the night away to the latest hits under the silver mirror ball.

And Skelmorlie Primary was at the cutting edge of technology with the arrival of a new BBC Micro computer in 1984.
