Members of a Largs choir braved the cold to complete an early-morning charity climb.

Rock Choir leader Jennifer Scouller and more than 20 members from Rock Choirs across Scotland, including Largs, Glasgow, Kilmacolm and Helensburgh, braved the winds for an early morning challenge at the beginning of March.

Along with a few four-legged friends, they climbed to the top of the Kilpatrick Hills for Comic Relief and once they reached the summit they serenaded the early morning hikers by singing a selection of Rock Choir classics.

This included George Ezra’s ‘Green Green Grass’, ‘Best of My Love’ by the Emotions and Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’.

And to keep in line with Comic Relief's theme of ‘Do Something Funny for Money', Jennifer did a quick costume change into her inflatable panda suit at the top of the hills.

Jennifer said: "It was the first time we have done anything like this as a choir. It was a real success with everyone getting on board and enjoying the challenge of a very early start.

"It was absolutely worth it when we saw the beautiful sunrise and were able to watch the city ‘wake up’ as we climbed up the hill.

"It was a fabulous start to the day and I’m looking forward to doing this again perhaps when the weather is a little warmer.”

Rock Choir members will be participating in several fundraising activities over the next few weeks for Comic Relief.

These range from surprise singing flash mobs, 12-hour singathons, bake sales, comedy fundraising videos, singing in the sea, singing mountain hikes, concerts, singing hula hoop sessions and Kazoo choir.

Alyson Woods from Largs Rock Choir said: “Singing and exercise was definitely a perfect start to the day.”

Another member added: "I thoroughly enjoyed the climb, it was definitely worth the 5.30am alarm call!  Singing at the top was such great fun."
