Two Sussex pubs have been included in a list of the best UK beer gardens with a beautiful view.

Fortune of War in Brighton and The Ypres Castle Inn in Rye were included in the article from Time Out.

Discussing the creation of the list the publication said: "The UK has tons of fabulous pubs, so it makes complete sense that plenty of ‘em come with astounding views.

"If you’d never realised that pebble beaches, grassy plains, city skylines, vast rivers and much more could all be enjoyed from the comfort of a boozer, you’re in for a heck of a ride."

What did Time Out say about the Sussex pubs?

Discussing Fortune of War in Brighton, a Time Out writer said: "Brighton’s seafront is a peculiar mish-mash of tacky old fairground rides and classy oyster bars, but there are few places I’d rather be on a sunny day than lazing with a pint, watching this chaotic little world walk by.

"And the Fortune of War’s seafront beer garden is my favourite spot to do so. They’ve got a solid beer selection and some tasty menu offerings from PizzaFaced, but it’s the sea view that really tops it all off."

Fortune of War has also been well-received on Tripadvisor, earning a score of 4/5 from 91 reviews.

Meanwhile, for The Ypres Castle Inn in Rye Time Out wrote: "This atmospheric, seventeenth-century pub is surrounded by nice things to look at.

"The beer garden is right in the shadow of Rye Castle’s ancient ramparts, while drinkers facing the other way get views of boats, marshland and the River Rother towards Camber Sands and the coast."

The Ypres Castle Inn has also been well-received on Tripadvisor earning a score of 4.5/5 from 744 ratings.

One reviewer wrote: "Love this pub. Great selection of craft beers from excellent breweries, friendly service and a lovely suntrap garden. My kind of place."

Another shared: "We’ve been hear [sic] a couple of times now celebrating the end of walks into Rye. Great choice of beer and cider and a tasty plate of local cheeses. Nothing fancy but the basic product is spot on.
