In this week's rummage into the Wee Paper's archives, we look back to May 1989 as we take a trip back to 35 years ago.

Kelburn Primary 7 were posing for their final photograph before leaving to go to the big secondary school.

And other Brisbane pupils were busy putting their creative talents to the test with a project on crime prevention posters, with the late district councillor Edith Clarkson in attendance to examine the best offerings, as well as the local constabulary.

Away from Largs, a public inquiry, headed by Lord Justice Taylor of Gosforth, began into the Hillsborough disaster. 

Arsenal won the First Division league title against Liverpool, with a goal from Michael Thomas in the last minute of the last game of the season in one of the Premier league's most dramatic finales.

Top tunes of the period included Hand On Your Heart by Kylie Minogue and Eternal Flame by the Bangles, while at the cinema, top flicks included Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman starring in Rain Man and Kim Basinger and  Dan Aykroyd in My Stepmother Is An Alien.
