A LARGS park project is £1,200 better off thanks to a fund-raising event in town at the weekend.
The Fencebay Band provided the music for the Douglas Park Project's fund-raiser at Largs Sailing Club on Saturday night.
Caroline Le Good Morgan from the Douglas Park Project called the event "a roaring success".
She said: "From the great music of the Fencebay Band, the dancing, the generosity of everyone who donated so many wonderful raffle prizes, the hard work of our secretary Angela O'Keefe, our treasurer and all the volunteers who helped set up the space, the bar staff and members of Largs Sailing Club who assisted, and of course the people who attended the event and made it such a fun night."
The band, whose line-up includes a retired local GP, restauranteur and optician as lead singer, played music from the era of Elvis Presley all the way through to Amy Winehouse during the four-hour event to ensure there was something to suit all musical tastes - and plenty to keep those in the audience up on the dance floor.
The Douglas Park Project has been one of the major success stories of the town in recent years, as volunteers have come together to help restore the park and create a beautiful space for walking, picnicking, relaxing, exercising and enjoying, and they hope to carry on their exciting plans going forward with help from the community.
All proceeds from the gig will go towards the Douglas Park Portaloo Fund.
