THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for charity at the annual Millport 10 Miler road race.
Nearly 250 athletes took part in the hugely popular event, with more than £5,000 raised for charities that support people with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
Iain Fisher won the men's race in 56 minutes and 34 seconds, while Jacqueline Armour was the first female runner across the line some 10 minutes behind.
Jay Currie took the honours for the fastest Millport competitor in the race.
The organisers were Angela Giorgetti and Marina Dobbin.
They said: "We would like to thank everyone for coming to our fantastic event. Over £5,000 was raised and will be split between Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s charities.
"We also want to wholeheartedly thank our support team of stewards, caterers and logistic guys, without whom we’d be lost.
"The sun mostly shone and we loved seeing everyone smiling as they came over the finish line.
"A huge well done to all the entrants for their efforts, and for the many donations which are still coming in. We’re blown away with everyone’s generosity.
"We’ll be back next year, so please spread the word and look out for the date which will be announced soon."
