A PROPERTY in Largs has been searched as police continue their investigation into a report of an abduction and assault in Inverclyde.
Officers attended a property at the Sandringham flats, close to the seafront and town centre. on Sunday, June 9, after receiving a report the previous evening that a man had been abducted and assaulted in Port Glasgow.
One Sandringham resident told the News there was a strong police presence at a property in the building, close to the seafront and town centre, on Sunday morning and afternoon.
The News understands the flat search on Sunday was linked to the Port Glasgow incident the previous day.
The resident said: "The police have been at the property in Sandringham all day with some wearing masks; it looks to be serious."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024, police received a report of the abduction and assault of a 53-year-old man in the Muirdykes Avenue area of Port Glasgow.
"The man later attended hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Police said there would be no further comment at this time.
