Councillor Alan Hill has said he would back the idea of making Largs a live music destination throughout the year.
Cllr Hill, who is involved in the Largs Community Development Trust, which is looking to set up a Visit Largs campaign, sees the live music scene as an ideal way to promote the town going forward.
Pubs such as The George, Room, and Sharp's Bar, host live music during most weekends of the year
Earlier in the summer, Largs Live saw pubs all over the town packed with a schedule of three days of groups and solo artists including Crisis's final farewell show.
The event was launched in 2012 by local publican Stephen McDonald, with Ayrshire musician and Fairground Attraction star Eddi Reader as the headline act.
Cllr Hill said: "I was making the very point during the Largs Live festival that, given the amount of people who visited, why don't we do this more often throughout the year rather than making it a one-off.
"It is a big commitment for pubs and bars to bring in live music so why don't we promote it more and make more official events throughout the year.
"Making Largs a place you can regularly come and expect live music would be a good concept and ideally bring a boost to local businesses.
"It doesn't have to have huge bands, and it can be a mix of local jamming sessions, folk music as the town is a lovely place to visit to come and have a drink, and having events throughout the year including in the autumn, winter and spring months, could work.
"There is of course the traditional January 2 event every year, and again, it is hugely popular too, so again, it provides an insight into the kind of numbers we could expect if we host weekend events on a more regular basis and jointly promote it across the west of Scotland.
"I don't think I have seen Largs Live as busy as it was this year, so it definitely shows after two years of Covid disruption, that there is a definite appetite for it.
"The one disappointment was the Waterside Bar was closed this year which regularly hosts Elvis, but overall it was a great occasion supported by locals and visitors who came from Glasgow, Greenock and around Ayrshire."
Making Largs a musical destination with regular live music has also been given by backing by local bars including Sharp's Bar who regularly host the likes of Filthy White Suit.
Co-owner of Sharp's Bar, Sara Veitch, said: "We have put in a lot of effort since opening Sharp's Bar two years ago to host live music on a regular basis, and I think hosting more music events and festivals and promoting Largs as a musical destination is a very good idea.
"It is certainly something I would support and I am sure a lot of other businesses in the town would do so too."
