MUSICAL theatre lovers in Largs are getting ready to pull out all the stops as they prepare to recreate a West End and Broadway classic on the localstage next year.
'9 to 5: the Musical' includes music and lyrics by country music legend Dolly Parton and is based on the 20th Century Fox blockbuster, with the book by Patricia Resnick, which was originally produced on Broadway by Robert Greenblatt in 2009.
The amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International and will be performed by the Largs Amateur Operatic Society (LAOS) at Barrfields Theatre from Wednesday, March 26 to Saturday, March 29.
Long before then, Monday, September 9 is LAOS Welcome Night at 7.30pm in Clark Memorial Church's main hall, and the society look forward to welcoming back familiar faces and meeting new faces too.
There is a new look production team for the group's next show, too: Morag Robertson will direct, Lily Ewing will choreograph and Chris Kelly returns as musical director.
Morag is no stranger to members and audiences with many memorable LAOS performances on her record, including 'Sister Act', 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Calendar Girls', not to mention solo performances with LAOS Voices.
Lily started in Young Voices and has made the transition to LAOS with ease, appearing in leading roles in 'Fiddler on the Roof' and 'Carousel' and performing with LAOS Voices.
Chris Kelly has returned home following his adventures in Spain, and the group is delighted that he has agreed to be musical director both of the next show and or LAOS Voices.
Rehearsals will be Mondays at 7.30pm in Clark Memorial Main Hall.
Auditions will be held in due course. Details will be given at rehearsals.
