Diversions

The Old Largs Road has been closed so that work can be carried out to strengthen the Routenburn Bridge. Diversion signs are in place and motorists have to make a detour at the Cut Centre. This is for six weeks.

On Sunday, the police blocked off the road in the centre of Inverkip. It appears that rough casting has fallen off the side of a building.

Visitor Centre

Design experts have been appointed for a Visitor Centre at the proposed Distillery at Bankfoot. It is hoped that this will be an asset for the Distillery and the surrounding area.

Raising Money

Mr Collins from Inverkip, a solo singer has been raising money through concerts in aid of the charity “Reach for Autism” - a charity that supports families of children and young people with Autism.

Inverclyde Pollinator Corridor

On Tuesday evening Mr Keith Watson, curator of Botany from Glasgow Museums was in Inverkip to lead a walk looking at the wild flowers in the area.

Inverclyde have a dedicated project leader, Laura Reilly who has been able to put in place the Pollinator Corridor that means that there is no grass cutting along the A78 roadside verges to allow native flowers to grow and seed.

This year has seen an abundance of Northern March Orchids by the roadside. A few interested folk joined in the walk which went through Ardgowan Estate behind Kip Village and were given information as to what was growing there.
