An exciting new project has gone LIVE for the Isle Of Cumbrae and Largs.
Members of the Millport community have built an online community radio station based in the West Lodge at Garrison House on the island. The project went live on the 1st of January 2018 at 4pm with the aptly named “Hangover Show”.
This show was hosted by Station Manager Stevie Muir and co hosted along with Scott Watson, Paul Dundas, Colin Jamieson, Andy Watson and Luke Laidlaw (CCR’s youngest presenter).
Station Manager Stevie-M who has a background in radio broadcasting has been head of fundraising and a presenter at HBSA Radio in Crosshouse Hospital for four years. He has interviewed a few celebrities in that time including Runrig’s Calum MacDonald.
Stevie said: “This was the result of three months hard work and determination. I have so many people I would like to thank and I am sure the paper isn’t big enough to name them all, however I would like to mention our sponsors A Breath Of Heaven, Cumbrae Couriers, Mapes Of Millport and North Ayrshire Ventures Trust.”
The team of presenters entertained and provided a wide range of music and chat to listeners online simply by clicking a link or downloading the “Tune In” Radio app then searching for “Cumbrae”.
Stevie added: “We knew we would have a few people listening however we couldn’t have predicted the numbers we received.
“The numbers are calculated in unique listeners, these are not individual people but individual IP Addresses. We had a total of 202 unique listeners from 6 different countries. Many of whom were islanders abroad or family of islanders. We would like to thank every single one of these listeners for their support and to those who could tune in but sent messages of support including all our presenters.”
Cumbrae Community Radio are always on the look out for presenters and application forms can be collected from Marina’s Salon, Garrison House Office, emailing them at cumbraeradiolive@gmail.com or by contacting the website www.cumbraeradiolive.com
The weekly schedule includes a number of new island DJs including Jensen Newton, Shona Morris, Paul Dundas, Jim Price, Juli Dempsey, and Andrew Wright.
