Cemetery Expansion?
It appears that talks have taken place with the owners of land adjacent to Inverkip Cemetery with a view to extend the present one. There is a problem within Inverclyde with lack of places available in its cemeteries.
Eco Award
Inverkip Church became the first Church of Scotland in Greenock Presbytery to be awarded an Eco Award. The church will receive a plaque commemorating this award. The eco group have been busy in and around the church and surrounding areas of Inverkip.
Sale of Honey
Ivy Cottage Dental Practice have been keeping bees in their grounds behind the building and have been selling honey made from the hives. The sum raised for Ardgowan Hospice so far is £250.
Pastors for Trains
There is a proposal for the work of the Greenock Pastors to be extended to the trains. The men and women give their time and aid in the streets of Greenock and this is to be extended onto the trains. It is hoped that their presence will go some way to combat the problem passengers have had to put up with on trains on the Wemyss Bay line.
River Search
The sight of helicopters and Police launches on the river had Inverkip residents wondering what was happening the other week end. It appears that there had been a report of fishing gear, a jacket and rod, on the former Power Station jetty. No evidence was found regarding anyone in the water.
Boot camp
The energetic folk attending the Boot Camp at Inverkip Church Hall celebrated the 50year existence of the company. They were put through their paces with 50 lunges and 50 Prone to toe touches!
Woman’s Institute
Inverkip Institute begins their new session on 11th September at 7.30pm in the Bonomy Room of the Church Hall. A warm welcome is extended to anyone wishing to join.
Badminton
Inverkip Badminton starts back on Monday evening 11th September in the Church Hall.
Country Dancing
The 14th September sees the start of Inverkip Country Dancing in the Church Hall at 7.30pm.
Parents Invite
Inverkip Primary extended a welcome to parents of Primary 2 to Primary 7 children to visit the school and meet the teachers.
Friendship Circle
Starting the new session the Friendship Circle at Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Church hold a Beetle Drive on 12th September. Meeting at 2.30pm.
