On the 3rd of August, along with hundreds of other local people, I attended a preview of the facilities at the new Brooksby Medical and Resource Centre.

In the current febrile state of politics it is worth repeating that this magnificent new resource for the people of Largs and the North Coast has been delivered by a partnership of Labour at Westminster, Holyrood and Irvine, the National Health Service and the Ayrshire and Arran Health Board.

The centre cost 3.8 million, with a further 2.1 million going on the refurbishment of Brooksby House itself and it is, without a shadow of a doubt, money well spent. The medical and other staff were effusive in their praise for the new centre, which will deliver brand new GP surgeries, Learning Disability Services, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Services, Physiotherapy, Community Nursing and a host of other services. This much needed new health resource centre is an example of what can be delivered by a Government which cares about the people it serves. It will, I"m sure, continue to be used and appreciated by the people of Largs and the surrounding communities for decades to come.

The delivery of this new facility shows that real politics is not, as some people seem to think, about endless constitutional bickering or picking petty fights with Westminster. Real politics is about working together to deliver vital services to the people who elect you, which is exactly what Labour, in partnership, has done for the people of Largs and the surrounding communities with the new Brooksby Medical and Resource Centre.
