A blanket ban on pavement parking will merely exacerbate the situation, especially in Largs.
There is a solution, do away with the pavements!
In most residential areas the roadways are better maintained than the pavements. Ask anyone who has tried pushing a wheelchair around Largs. Parking close to garden walls will widen the space to be used for all. Give pedestrians priority at all times and drop the speed limit to five or ten mph.
Think it wouldn’t work? We all cope with such a situation every time we visit Morrisons in Largs and walk through the car park. There may be plenty of scrapes and bumps on the cars but I don’t recall hearing of a rash of injuries to pedestrians.
