Halkshill Bowling Club in Largs are to launch a major drive to introduce young people to the game.

Tied in to a big Family Day at the Wilson Street club on Saturday, June 24 Halkshill will set up all sorts of bowling games as part of the attractions.

With free entry, there will be a barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting, tea room, rides and stalls, music, target bowls and chance to try lawn bowls.

President Bobby Crawford hopes that in addition to it being a community fun day young people from ages 10 to 18 will try their hand, literally, at the game of bowls.  Increasingly, in Scotland successful bowlers who represent their country tend to come from the younger age groups.

There will be free and discount rates for anyone wishing to join Halkshill. The activities will run from 10am to 5pm.
