The second instalment of Largs Tennis Club’s Finals Day took place last weekend.
In the club’s show piece event, in front of a sizeable crowd, defending champion Malcolm McAulay took on first time finalist Blair Cunningham. In a thrilling final, with both competitors displaying some top class tennis, Blair eventually got his hands on the trophy winning 6-2, 6-4.
The inaugural Murray Cup saw members play a series of qualifiers throughout the season to win a place in the final. The Murray Cup final was contested between Sarah Cunningham and Crawford Boyd against Sue Wilkie and Alan McEwing. In a rollercoaster match Sarah and Crawford proved to be the strongest on the day, taking victory in 3 sets; 0-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The Murray Shield for 3rd and 4th place was won by Janie McKenzie & David Cunningham against Chris Reekie and Andy Jones. Janie and David put in a solid performance winning 6-2, 6-3.
Thanks to all supporters who came along to watch the finals and well done to all finalists for their strong display.
