Welcome to our new regular Inverclyde Sports Centre column. The all new inclusive centre is approaching its first anniversary in April, and is linking up with the new Largs Campus and also hosts a diverse range of community sport.

The aim of the column is to give you an idea of the different groups who are visiting the centre, and interesting events and activities taking place at the centre.

* Easter holiday camps will be launching this week for booking. We will have both multi-sports and gymnastics camps running across the 2 weeks of the holidays. Visit their website or ask at the reception to book.

* The RYA Instructors conference took place over the weekend on the 24th and 25th of February between both Inverclyde and Cumbrae centres. They had seminars and practical workshops and our own senior instructors led a number of workshops to prepare everyone for the season ahead. For more information on our events and meetings spaces available for hire please phone the centre on 01475 674 666.

* The café is open to the public 7 days a week, everyone is more than welcome, whether or not you are using our sports facilities. A great selection of sandwiches and soups from our deli counter!

* The Largs Archery competition went ahead on Sunday 4th March despite the ongoing challenging weather. This was the Largs leg of the Ayrshire league and we managed to keep everyone warm and the competition was fierce!

* The second qualifying round of the Murray Cup tennis club tournament run by Largs Tennis Club due on Sunday had to be postponed because of the icy conditions. It has been re-arranged for Sunday 17 March from 1-3pm. For more details, email davidlindsaycunningham@gmail.com

Inverclyde Principal Barry Fleeting said: "“Inverclyde is a pretty special place and always has been. We want everyone who visits to have a very positive sporting experience.”
