Thistle legend George Wall writes for the 'News' in his Off The Wall Column...

One of the things that impresses me most about Celtic is their skipper Scott Brown.

He just rules the roost there, nobody seems to get near him. I think he could easily play in the English Premiership.
Celtic fans might not like this but he reminds me of a Graeme Souness. He can take it as well as give it out, and is playing well.
I am disappointed that he has chucked Scotland, but our nation now has to look at re-building with some exciting friendlies coming up later this year including Belgium and Portugal games at Hampden.

* With midweek fixtures now underway, it is a busy time for junior football clubs.
Largs play three times this week. After beating Larkhall on Saturday, Thistle face Hurlford on Wednesday evening tonight and travel to Cambuslang this weekend.
However, as it stands, they have no game for the following week. Fixtures come along a bit like buses — three of them at once, and then none! Last year, Largs had to wait 58 days last year to fulfill their last fixture against Auchinleck Talbot. They will be hoping they don’t have as long a wait this time round.
Kello are in the same league and they have seven home games in a row — it is a long way for clubs to travel there — and that is a huge advantage for them.
Irvine Meadow had seven games in hand on Largs at one point, while Cumbernauld United had eight — that is practically two months of catching up to do!
Petershill have shown that they are top dogs in the McBookie.com West First Division. They beat Cambuslang 4-0 during a recent midweek fixture, and secured a draw at Irvine Meadow on Saturday.
They are a good side and congratulations to them on winning the title.
* The topic of VAR technology and football continues to stoke controversy.
It is going to be in place for the World Cup in Russia, and it will be interesting to see how it affects games.
If it is fast enough and it doesn’t stop the game too much then it could be an asset. But does it always get the right decision?
During the recent England v Italy game, Italy were awarded a late penalty. It was a controversial move, but most of the pundits seemed to be in broad agreement that it was a penalty.
VAR is still dependent on a referee looking at it, and then it is down to the his interpretation. Human error is always there, and it would appear that the VAR system is still not perfect.
